The Ice Park incorporates an ice rink, sledding slope and a snow playground as well as food trucks and a warm indoor café serving snacks and hot drinks. The ice rink is one of a number of ice rinks operated by the city during the winter, and is popular with both locals and tourists as an easily accessible place to enjoy some winter fun for a low price. A one day pass for the skating rink and sledding slope including skate rental costs just 5,000 won, with cheaper prices offered for one session tickets.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6kZ5qNY95vNqDOjY-2-8eet3OJoqjKsZe966Mn4O6pDTFP1ZldC_6jcM1TaLo5atwPwSLAmG136wJOguexlErn0oFZPYIdYN6GUYKeHOpQ-5CNWVMn-lyq7LZXYUNcDEDsyoGdB6wLl4/s1600/3.png" imageanchor="1" style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: medium; letter-spacing: normal; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="283" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6kZ5qNY95vNqDOjY-2-8eet3OJoqjKsZe966Mn4O6pDTFP1ZldC_6jcM1TaLo5atwPwSLAmG136wJOguexlErn0oFZPYIdYN6GUYKeHOpQ-5CNWVMn-lyq7LZXYUNcDEDsyoGdB6wLl4/s400/3.png" width="400" /></a></div>

As part of the “Walking City, Seoul” project, the Seoul Metropolitan Government has launched the Road Diet Campaign in daily life from the beginning of this year to create a comfortable and safe walking space on a 6,892m street.</div>
<div style="border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, "Microsoft Yahei", 微软雅黑, STXihei, 华文细黑, sans-serif; font-size: 15px !important; letter-spacing: -0.24px; line-height: 22.5px; margin-bottom: 20px; padding: 0px; text-align: center; vertical-align: baseline;">
The ‘Road Diet’ project is the first project to be implemented this year, which means reducing vehicle space and converting it into a pedestrian-oriented road space.</div>
<div style="border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, "Microsoft Yahei", 微软雅黑, STXihei, 华文细黑, sans-serif; font-size: 15px !important; letter-spacing: -0.24px; line-height: 22.5px; margin-bottom: 20px; padding: 0px; text-align: center; vertical-align: baseline;">
The city built a collaborative system with the autonomous regions earlier this year in order to proactively promote the road diet project and improve the citizens’ feeling, found 20 places in 19 autonomous districts, and conducted the project of Road Diet in daily life.</div>
<div style="border: 0px; line-height: 22.5px; margin-bottom: 20px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">

<span style="letter-spacing: -0.24px;">Based on the opinion of the autonomous district and the opinions of the local residents, Seoul reviewed the project costs and feasibility of each branch and provided a total budget of 8.13 billion won. Basically, it focused on creating a safe walking environment in situations where safety is threatened, for example, when pedestrians had to walk on the car road because there is no pedestrian road or the road is too narrow, through the installation of crossroads and CCTV cameras for pedestrian safety, based on the reduction of the car road and establishment of the pedestrian road.</span></div>

While carrying out the project, there were some differences in opinions with the local residents, but the city actively reflected the opinions of the local residents through various measures such as the residents briefing. Seventeen sites will be completed this year as scheduled, and three sites (Jung-gu, Eunpyeong-gu and Seongbuk-gu) that are not yet completed will be completed in the first half of 2017.<br />
<span style="letter-spacing: -0.24px;">On the 220m sections of Noksapyeong-daero 26-gil, Yongsan-gu, the pedestrian road was expanded (1.5→3.2 – 4.0m) and the car road was reduced (10.8 – 11.3m→7.0m). The speed limit will be drastically reduced from 60 km / h to 30 km / h for safety. It is expected the demand for Itaewon tourism will increase by creating the antique furniture street..</span></div>

On Nowon-ro 1ga-gil, Gongneung-dong, Nowon-gu, the sidewalk width of the 130m section of Taereung Elementary School has expanded from 2.5 to 3.7m. This was done to improve the safety of school students and to make pedestrians comfortable by providing green space and rest facilities.</div>
<div style="border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, "Microsoft Yahei", 微软雅黑, STXihei, 华文细黑, sans-serif; font-size: 15px !important; letter-spacing: -0.24px; line-height: 22.5px; margin-bottom: 20px; padding: 0px; text-align: center; vertical-align: baseline;">
In the early stage of the Road Diet in Daily Life project, there were many concerns and opposition citing the lack of parking space and the increase in traffic jam. However, the residents’ satisfaction of the walking environment increased, which is improved after the project..</div>

<strong>Mr. Soungeun Kim</strong> (Consul General of Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Mumbai) says- “Cultural exchanges provide a firm foundation for people to progressively propel into more integrated and cooperative relationship. Korea and India is the cultural hub of the ancient world which sets them in an advantageous position to reap it. As the soil, however rich it may be cannot be productive without cultivation, so the mind without culture can never bear good fruit.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #636363; font-family: "Open Sans", sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 20px;">
This spectacular event have showcase and promote Indo-Korean cultural exchanges through a variety of performances where talented individuals and groups from Korean and Indian Community across India come on stage. With the kind of overwhelming response received at Korean Film festival, I’m sure this event was also huge success too and our audience will be well gratified”.</div>

This month, there’s more than one moon on view in Seoul. A 60-foot-tall work of public art called<em style="border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-stretch: inherit; font-variant: inherit; font-weight: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;"> Super Moon</em> has been erected—or rather, inflated—within the waters of Seokchon Lake, located in a park near the Han River.</div>

The opaque, glowing space art is the work of <a href="http://friendswithyou.com/supermoon/" style="border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: #27bdbe; font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-stretch: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-variant: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;" target="_blank">FriendsWithYou</a>, a Los Angeles-based art collective that specializes in cutesy, toy-like experimental installations that are often inflatable, rainbow-colored, and illluminated. It’s like Jeff Koons meets Sanrio.</div>

During the day, the artists have set up a cloud-shaped bounce house and cosmos-themed mascots to interact with visitors. In addition to the moon, there are eight other planetary sculptures. At night, each of the sculptures glows, and programmable LEDs shift the colors of the moon sculpture.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: pragmatica-web, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; font-stretch: inherit; font-variant-numeric: inherit; line-height: 19.5px; margin-bottom: 1.5em; padding: 0px; text-align: center; vertical-align: baseline;">

"When we gather around the moon as a community, we all orbit together,” they explain, adding that they hope <em style="border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-stretch: inherit; font-variant: inherit; font-weight: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">Super Moon</em> viewers “can experience this sense of unity and peace.”</div>

It’s on view until October 3, timed to coincide with the Korean harvest festival Chuseok (often likened to a Korean version of Thanksgiving), which happens around the fall equinox each year on the full moon. This year, the three-day festival takes place September 14 through 16.</div>

According to the Korean Broadcasting and Communications Committee, smart phone usage rate grew from 3.8% in 2010 to 78.7% in 2015. More than 60% of users said that smart phones are vital more than TV. According to research from the Traffic Safety Organization, the number of pedestrian traffic accidents due to smart phones increased from 437 in 2009 to 1,111 in 2014, a 2.5 fold increased over the last five years.<br /><span style="letter-spacing: -0.24px;">Pilot installation will take place in five areas: City Hall, Yonsei University, Hongdae University, Gangnam Station, and Jamsil Station.</span><span style="letter-spacing: -0.24px;">The SMG, along with the NPA, came up with designs and placed them where smart phone users are exposed to traffic accidents. By raising pedestrians’ awareness by using traffic safety signs and pedestrian walk signs, the SMG hopes to prevent accidents.</span><span style="letter-spacing: -0.24px;">The signs are designed to show situations where smart phone users are about to be hit by cars. The signs will also include “Be wary of smart phones while walking” to help pedestrians understand the signs.<br /></span> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigeTQakV5ErbjKSBR5AvnSSzONIzutLHML01YduzL_ad_DGGHpbAJ9uSKJ8WKxboy3aBhrm0TcvcJgQQ-eiQUi3Pt8gqHKBdTkGBr66zWHMCoJpinLgoGfODa8lwu4UOoRfKj81U9V-2U/s1600/warning-sign-texting-pedestrians.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: medium; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: normal; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="265" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigeTQakV5ErbjKSBR5AvnSSzONIzutLHML01YduzL_ad_DGGHpbAJ9uSKJ8WKxboy3aBhrm0TcvcJgQQ-eiQUi3Pt8gqHKBdTkGBr66zWHMCoJpinLgoGfODa8lwu4UOoRfKj81U9V-2U/s400/warning-sign-texting-pedestrians.jpg" width="400" /></a><span style="letter-spacing: -0.24px;"><br /></span><span style="letter-spacing: -0.24px;"><br />Pedestrian walk signs have “Safety first when walking” to raise awareness of the danger of using smart phones. In addition, given that many pedestrians look down while they walk to look at their smart phones, the signs were made simple but clean.</span><span style="letter-spacing: -0.24px;"><br />The SMG will start installing 50 traffic safety signs on traffic lights and street lights in five areas and 250 pedestrian walk signs on pedestrian roads from the Thursday, June 16th.</span></div>

The pilot project will be carried out for six months until the end of the year. During that time, the SMG and the NPA will monitor the changes in walking patterns, the number of pedestrian accidents, and citizens’ responses; according to the trial, the pilot signs may become official safety signs after the two organizations review the results.</div>

<br />
Cheers!</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #464646; font-family: 'Open Sans', Tahoma, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22.390625px; margin-bottom: 15px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px;">
Whether it is at work or at university, whether you are new at your job or tired of the daily routines, in Korea there are always reasons to go out as a group and have ‘a drink’. So people would ask you</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #464646; font-family: 'Open Sans', Tahoma, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22.390625px; margin-bottom: 15px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px;">
술 한 잔 할래요?<br />
(Sul han jan hal-lae-yo?)</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #464646; font-family: 'Open Sans', Tahoma, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22.390625px; margin-bottom: 15px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px;">
which means, ‘Do you want to have a drink?’</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #464646; font-family: 'Open Sans', Tahoma, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22.390625px; margin-bottom: 15px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px;">
술(Sul) is a term for all alcohol drinks and 한 잔(han jan) is ‘one(한) glass(잔)’. 잔 is glass in terms of ‘cup’ so it is all cups made of glass. You don’t use 잔 for windows or fake jewlery. The Korean word for glass in terms of material is ‘유리’. 할래요(hal-lae-yo) means ‘want to do’. (Remember, the 요(yo) at the end indicates the polite form.) So 술 한 잔 할래요? means, ‘Do you want to have(drink) a glass of drink?’<br />
Instead of 할래요, you can use 마실래요(Ma-shil-lae-yo) which means ‘want to drink’ and is grammatically more correct. In spoken Korean, however, you can use both.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #464646; font-family: 'Open Sans', Tahoma, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22.390625px; margin-bottom: 15px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px;">
When you are finally at a bar people would ask you (this could even happen while having dinner)</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #464646; font-family: 'Open Sans', Tahoma, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22.390625px; margin-bottom: 15px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px;">
술 잘 하세요? (Do you drink alcohol drinks well?)<br />
(Sul jal ha-seh-yo?)</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #464646; font-family: 'Open Sans', Tahoma, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22.390625px; margin-bottom: 15px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px;">
or to be gramatically correct,</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #464646; font-family: 'Open Sans', Tahoma, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22.390625px; margin-bottom: 15px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px;">
술 잘 마시세요? (Do you drink alcohol well?)<br />
(Sul jal ma-shi-seh-yo?)</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #464646; font-family: 'Open Sans', Tahoma, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22.390625px; margin-bottom: 15px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px;">
Which is actually asking you if you can drink a lot. Remember, however!! Even when it comes to drinking, you cannot forget that modesty is always required, unless you are at a job interview. If you cannot drink a lot of alcohol but you still like to drink and enjoy, you can say</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #464646; font-family: 'Open Sans', Tahoma, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22.390625px; margin-bottom: 15px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px;">
잘 못 마셔요.<br />
Jal mot ma-shyeo-yo.<br />
(I can’t drink well. / I can’t drink a lot. Koreans will take this as ‘Yes, I can drink a reasonable amount.’)</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #464646; font-family: 'Open Sans', Tahoma, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22.390625px; margin-bottom: 15px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px;">
If you actually CAN drink to a reasonable extent which would be from a guys standard, about one to two bottles of soju or many cans of beer (for women one third to a half of that), you would say</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #464646; font-family: 'Open Sans', Tahoma, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22.390625px; margin-bottom: 15px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px;">
좀(조금) 마셔요.<br />
Jom(Jo-geum) ma-shyeo-yo.<br />
(I drink a little.)<br />
좀(Jom) is ‘little’ and is the short form for 조금(jo-geum). But even if you say ‘a little’, people would take it as being modest and understand it as ”can take SOME alcohol.”</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #464646; font-family: 'Open Sans', Tahoma, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22.390625px; margin-bottom: 15px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px;">
If you can’t drink much or don’t want to drink, make some believable facial expressions or gestures and say,</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #464646; font-family: 'Open Sans', Tahoma, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22.390625px; margin-bottom: 15px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px;">
못 마셔요.(Mot ma-shyeo-yo.)<br />
which means, ‘I can’t drink.’ or</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #464646; font-family: 'Open Sans', Tahoma, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22.390625px; margin-bottom: 15px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px;">
안 마셔요. (An ma-shyeo-yo.)<br />
‘I don’t drink.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #464646; font-family: 'Open Sans', Tahoma, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22.390625px; margin-bottom: 15px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px;">
Please, don’t be too honest to say<br />
네, 잘 마셔요.(Ne, jal ma-shyeo-yo)<br />
Yes, I can drink a lot.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #464646; font-family: 'Open Sans', Tahoma, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22.390625px; margin-bottom: 15px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px;">
What people will actually think is that you can drink hell a lot, like a keg of soju, and if you have a heavy drinker around, he is definitely going to try to make you drink until you become sick. So don’t use the last expression unless you are confident to stay fine.<br />

<span data-reactid=".9q.0.0">The Incheon
International Airport Corporation won the Best Overall Airport in the
World prize at this year’s Global Traveler Tested Reader Survey Awards. <br /><br />The awarding ceremony took place on Dec. 15 (local time) at the
Peninsula Beverly Hills LA.
Earlier this year, Seoul's main airport was also declared "Best Airport
Asia-Pacific" and "Best Airport 25-40 Million Passengers" in the most
recent Airport Service Quality Awards.
With the prize, the Incheon International Airport became the only
airport in the Global Traveler Hall of Fame. <br /><br />Earlier, the airport had
topped the Airport Service Quality of the Airports Council International
for nine consecutive years.
Approximately 26,000 people participated in the assessment. <br />It was
followed by Changi Airport in Singapore and the Amsterdam Airport
Schiphol.
Opened in 2001, the Incheon International Airport has recorded an annual
average growth rate of 6.4 percent, and 400 million people have used it
until August this year. <br /><br />The number exceeded 40 million in 2014 alone,
too.
At present, it is connected to 188 cities in 55 countries around the
world, and its cargo and passenger transportation volumes are the third
and ninth-highest in the world, respectively.</span></div>

This can be usefully deployed in places where short intervals between trains are required and there are multiple destinations for passengers, such as large shopping malls, transit transfer centers and airports.</span></span></div>

<span style="border: 0px; color: black; font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: small; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">The Korea Railroad Research Institute held on November 27 the first pilot run for the mini-tram at its head office in Euiwang in the southern outskirts of Seoul. The six-seater battery-operated tram can travel up to 50 kilometers an hour along the magnet-laid rail. Once a passenger presses the call-up button at the station, the tram will come pick up the passenger to take her to the desired destination along the optimal route indicated by the GPS. The central control center makes sure the trains can be run smoothly without colliding with each other.<br /><span style="line-height: 24px;">According to an institute’s official, the tram can come in handy in small residential towns and areas in which connecting means of transportation are needed. As the tram is small sized, it costs less to build and maintain. Currently similar trams are under deployment in London’s Heathrow Airport and Masdar City Airport in Abu Dhabi. The institute aims to commercialize the technology by 2016.</span><br /></span></div>

Seoul taxi drivers are notorious for rejecting customers and driving aggressively. In order to dispel their bad reputation, Seoul Metropolitan Government has introduced “Pororo” taxis in an attempt to paint cabbies in a more friendly light.</div>

Pororo has even been dubbed as the “president of children.”</span></div>

<span style="border: 0px; font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: small; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">From outer decorations to accessories inside the vehicles themselves, Pororo and his friends have taken over the taxis, giving much delight to passengers, especially children.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; font-family: 'Open Sans', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 18px; margin-bottom: 1.5em; padding: 0px; text-align: center; vertical-align: baseline;">
<span style="border: 0px; font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: small; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">Passengers don’t need to pay extra fare for the specially decorated taxis, and those who would like to take a Pororo taxi should make an online reservation at Seoul’s public transportation reservation site (http://yeyak.seoul.go.kr/main.web) at least seven days prior to the service.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; font-family: 'Open Sans', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 18px; margin-bottom: 1.5em; padding: 0px; text-align: center; vertical-align: baseline;">
<span style="border: 0px; font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: small; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">However, the services are not only based on reservations, and those who are lucky enough to spot one on the street can ride a Pororo cab like any other taxi in Seoul.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; font-family: 'Open Sans', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 18px; margin-bottom: 1.5em; padding: 0px; text-align: center; vertical-align: baseline;">
<span style="border: 0px; font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: small; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">The city government will decide whether to keep the service running after reviewing responses from passengers and taxi drivers, once the pilot project has concluded.</span></div>

There are many walking trails in Korea, but you don’t need to travel far
to enjoy one of Seoul’s 8 Dulle-gil trails, all of which are fully open
to public as of November 15, 2014.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
As the love and interest from Seoulites and visitors from other regions
increases for Seoul’s natural attractions, so the roads built close to
mountain trails gain in popularity. However, this influx of vehicles is
detrimental to the natural scenery. In order to protect Seoul’s natural
attractions while still allowing people to draw near, the Seoul
government created the Dulle-gil trails that cover the city’s most
visited natural attractions, organized into 8 courses reaching 27
different locations. Covering 157km in total, these trails are perfect
for exercise but also good for viewing nearby cultural and historical
sites. Moreover, all entrances and exits are within short walking
distance to 23 major subway stations for easy access. </div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Sinseol Jonghap Market began to be formed in 1971 as a group of local merchants opened their shops at the current marketplace.</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
The market has since then continued to grow its influence upon the economic life of the local community and still plays an important role in supplying daily necessities.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The popularity of the market among the local shoppers is dependent upon its capability to offer fresh high-quality products at competitive prices via the direct day-by-day transactions with the producers.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Currently, the market contains about 150 shops trading a wide variety of merchandise including meat, fruits and vegetables, fish, kitchen appliances, food, plastic and vinyl sheets as well as tiny snack bars and diners serving sundaeguk (Korean black pudding soup), jokbal (steamed pig’s feet), noodles, gimbap (laver rice rolls) and various fries.</div>

<br />
<span style="font-family: inherit; line-height: 18px;">The most interesting spots are the people’s market and foreigners’ flea market. Even window shopping is fun here where all sorts of knick-knacks, traditional handicrafts and rare objects can be found. If you look carefully, you may be able to find your own treasure at a cheap price. Those who know the attractions of a flea market shout drop by with their families.<br /></span><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQct7RHowG0-_tgp0kbWqlo7Xj5C1END02BdwrdpsPEIul_xsRruZBgdMyzFwjeIoA7_nvIhghIH2LbElLSRadpcNeU9tJb-6bJFwmCY2KsTzNrA8TKXb8yIShmSw7Ij7a0X_1E6VX6yI/s1600/sel4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQct7RHowG0-_tgp0kbWqlo7Xj5C1END02BdwrdpsPEIul_xsRruZBgdMyzFwjeIoA7_nvIhghIH2LbElLSRadpcNeU9tJb-6bJFwmCY2KsTzNrA8TKXb8yIShmSw7Ij7a0X_1E6VX6yI/s1600/sel4.jpg" height="266" width="400" /></a><span style="font-family: inherit; line-height: 18px;"><br /></span><span style="line-height: 18px;">Souvenirs shops sell unique items that have won awards in various competitions. Hanbok apron which transforms traditional hanbok into a practical apron, Hahoe masks and hand-made natural soap featuring famous Korean paintings are but some of the items available. On the second floor Boradong, handicrafts from Jeju Island and North Gyeongsang Province, traditional alcoholic beverages and other regional specialties are on sale. If you are looking for unique gifts for foreigners or the elderly, this is the place to go to.</span></div>

Tapgol park is located on the former site of Wongak Temple. The Temple was destroyed during the reign of Yeonsangun and Jungjong due to the repression policy of Buddhism. In the late 19th Century John McLeavy Brown, an Irishman and financial advisor/Chief Commissioner of Customs in Korea suggested that a western park be built. Tapgol Park was built sometime in the 1890′s and became the first modern park of Korea. The park was open to the public from 1913.<br /><br /> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzyIHVFxC3d0FMgMDw2WyJ6pHTv-VXnejgpw2bU0p_-fATtiBMBLgVpLMHZu3v_20pZRjdfvLPcKLe7ICb7IlJMGvBuLsdmZglulOyCKR-eLPoRmLZJA-uAwHR_MswWRvH8qrd8QAsAH4/s1600/ta1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzyIHVFxC3d0FMgMDw2WyJ6pHTv-VXnejgpw2bU0p_-fATtiBMBLgVpLMHZu3v_20pZRjdfvLPcKLe7ICb7IlJMGvBuLsdmZglulOyCKR-eLPoRmLZJA-uAwHR_MswWRvH8qrd8QAsAH4/s1600/ta1.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a><br /><br />Tapgol park played a very important role in modern Korea. It was here that on March 1st, 1919 that the Declaration of Independence was recited and began the start of the independence movement against Japanese Rule. From here the movement spread across Korea. In the park there is a tower with the 1,762 word declaration of independence inscribed on it in English and Korean alongside statues of the independence leaders such as Byung Hee Son.<br />
<br />
The park is a somewhat open museum honouring the independence movement and displaying treasures from Wongak Temple. National Treasure No.2, Wongak Temple 10 level stone tower is on display in the park.<br />

Seoul Square is an area and building in front of Seoul Station. In Seoul Square there are a lot of restaurants, hotels and an ice skating rink in winter. The main attraction is the digital screen that covers Seoul Square office building. The screen is a huge LED display made up of 42,000 LED screens and was installed in 2009. The screen covers the whole width and height of the building which is 19 floors high. The height of the screen is 78 meters and the width is 99 meters. This makes it the largest LED display in the world. Originally the screen was built to promote artwork exhibitions, which over 80 have been displayed. In February of 2011 it was used for commercial use for the first time. This has opened up many opportunities for companies who wish to display an ad on the world’s largest LED screen.</div>
